Northwestern Settlement is thrilled to announce the appointment of Jason Smith as the new Principal of Rowe Elementary. Mr. Smith comes to Rowe from Hynes Elementary School in Morton Grove. He brings over 25 years of experience in education, including the last 15 years as a Principal. Before moving into administration, he was a middle school and high school mathematics teacher.
Mr. Smith was selected after an extensive interview process, during which teachers, staff, parents, and community members had an opportunity to meet the candidates and provide input. Mr. Smith is a student and family-focused leader with the experience and skills necessary to lead Rowe into its next chapter.
Jason is joined by two new Assistant Principals, Diana Smith and Akesha McLean. Ms. Smith previously served as Principal at Old St. Mary's School in the Near South Side neighborhood of Chicago, and Ms. McLean most recently served as Assistant Principal and Case Manager at McDade Elementary, a Chicago Public School in the Chatham neighborhood. Together, the three new leaders bring nearly 50 years of experience in school administration.
